Market Commentary

Working ranches and farms are the foundation of New Mexico's thriving culture. Our roots trace back to the Mogollon and Anasasiz cultures. These ancient ones lead the way for the classical pueblo period and later colonization by the Spaniards. Rising from these noble people, came additional development of infrastructure, the nations oldest communities and no doubt the first successfully organized herdsman and farmers. Through the ages, New Mexico's Agriarians have persevered advancing technology to the succeeding chain of generations as evidenced by todays owner operators producing off the land across rural New Mexico. Noteable rural properties with famous names and places deep rooted in history make up this enchanting land.

Today, New Mexico is undergoing a change of ownership and at a pace never before seen. Changing economic, social and political conditions, and trends among investors has generated huge demand for all classes of rural New Mexico territory. Thus, with demand prices have greatly appreciated and the inventory of available properties declined. The active Buyers creating the demand are as diversified as the New Mexico landscape, as are their agendas. Long-term investors, speculators, special interests groups, developers and yes, cattlemen and farmers are all in heated competition throughout the state. No area is untouched. Land is being assembled into hugh private holdings, while other historic properties are being developed and subdivided at a furious pace.

Overall, the health of the land market is excellent and thriving. It is my outlook that the momentum of this colossal trend will continue into the new year with no end apparent other than scarcity of enchanting land.
