The Cibola Ranch is comprised of approx 2,080 deeded acres. This is mountainous New Mexico rangeland with a six mile boundary along the beautiful and primitive Cibola National Forest.
Location of the Cibola Ranch is northeast of Pie Town; approximately 9 miles north off of US Highway 60 via Forest Road 6A. The site is accessed by a primitive forest-ranch service road which traverses the ranch for one mile. This is a no frills undeveloped ranch covering considerable territory that is in conformity to the adjacent national forest lands.
Elevation range from a high of 7,200 ft to 7,600 ft. Topography is varied and the climate generally mild and semi-arid. The site includes mountainous slopes, many hills, mesas, and meadows. Traversing the ranch is WH Canyon draining to Alamocita Creek which traverses a portion of the ranch. Both drainages are significant features and have intermittent water with numerous springs, seeps, and seasonal watershed runoff.
Vegetation includes a diverse mosaic of piñon pine, alligator juniper, ponderosa, shrubs, many annuals, and grasslands. Soils are a complex mix of ingenious rock, sand stone, and silt. The diversity of topography, vegetation, and proximity of Alamocita Creek create a well balanced and rich habitat for a variety of wildlife. Bull Elk in the 350 class are regularly taken and 400 plus class elk exist. The ranch is an elk and deer corridor with the wildlife traveling from the enormous Cibola National Forest and vast private lands across the ranch to and from the Alamocita Creek. In addition to elk the hunter’s boast of the quality mule deer hunting with the added attraction of black bear, mountain lion, coyotes, and turkey.

The significance of the elk habitat has attracted industry leaders such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation which has invested in numerous projects and has a large financial stake in the region. This is a primitive weapons, bow and muzzle loader hunt area, referenced as Unit 13. Land owner elk tags will be available for this ranch.
