The Mimbres Mountain Ranch is a very scenic, very private mountainous 1,367.83 deeded acre expanse of pristine native New Mexico rangeland. The general land area is within the vast Basins and Range Province of southwestern New Mexico. Topography of the site is generally mountainous with numerous canyons, grassy meadows and valley bottomland. Elevations range from a low of 5,600 ft. to 6,000 ft. The upland range sites provide spectacular panoramic views of the stunning Mimbres River Valley and nearby mountain ranges.
Vegetation is consistent with the Chihuahuan high desert flora. It is comprised of many resilient native grasses, cactus, oak, junipers and piñon.
Thriving within this habitat is a diverse wildlife community and a sustainable population of the magnificent desert mule deer. Commonly sighted are mule deer, javelinas and coyotes with occasional sightings of elk, bear and mountain lion. Upland game birds consisting of quail and dove are found throughout the area. Many colorful, wild birds and soaring raptors are frequently seen.
Location of the Mimbres Mountain Ranch is within an ancient land originally populated by the Mogollon and Mimbres Indians. These ancient ones utilized the area resources and traces of these people are still found throughout the area.
Succeeding cultures of the formidable Chiracahua Apache Indians later dominated the region hunting gathering and taking refuge from the European explorers, traders and soldiers. More recent times lead to modern settlement with evidence of these settlers' foot prints among the many ruins, foundations and old hand dug water wells. Today the Mimbres River Valley and Silver City region is a thriving community, yet the area has retained a rural atmosphere dominated by agricultural interest.
