    Turkey Park Spring Ranch
The Turkey Park Spring Ranch is located in the mountainous region of western New Mexico. The ranch is ten miles west of Datil in Catron County. This location is forested taking in the 9,100' Sugarloaf Mountain and is adjacent to the Crosby Mountains of the Cibola National Forest.

Access is south off U.S. Highway 60 between Datil and Quemado via Slash Z Canyon Road. This is a gravel road 10 miles off pavement.

The ranch is comprised of 880 deeded acres, more or less, and a United States Forest Service cattle grazing allotment. The deeded acreage is held in three non-contiguous tracts. The larger tract is the contiguous 680 deeded acre Pipeline Pasture. This pasture is the gateway to the ranch and the only vehicle road access to the forest allotment. It is accessed off the Slash Z Canyon Road. The national forest Sugarloaf Spring grazing allotment is along the east boundary of the Pipeline Pasture. The only vehicle access to the forest is controlled by deeded land of the Pipeline Pasture.

Within the national forest Sugarloaf Spring grazing allotment land area is the 40± deeded acre Jones Spring Tract and the 160± deeded acre Turkey Park Spring Tract. Both deeded tracts are surrounded by national forest and have private controlled road access.

The national forest, USFS Sugarloaf Spring grazing allotment currently permits fifty-five head of cattle grazing for two months out of the year.

Turkey Park Spring Ranch is a pristine mountain and woodland wildlife sanctuary. Improvements are limited to fencing, water development, access road and utilities. The entire perimeter, to include the national forest Sugarloaf Spring grazing allotment, is fenced. The Pipeline Pasture is also cross-fenced along the forest boundary.

Water development includes two wells, two surface dirt tanks and several flowing springs. One well has an electric submersible pump and the other has a windmill and storage tank. Approximately one mile of buried water line connects the wells.

The Turkey Park Spring deeded tract and Jones Spring deeded tract each have perennial mountain springs with flowing water. A third spring, Sugarloaf Spring is within the USFS grazing allotment. The abundance of spring water and developed wildlife waterings are an attractant for the areas diversified wildlife species.

Range improvements have been purposely limited to water development and perimeter fencing so you, as the new owner, can create your own land use management plan and infrastructure.

Turkey Park Spring Ranch is a multiple-use recreational property. The range site is comprised of forested mountain rangeland complimented with large open meadows and grassy slopes. Elevation ranges from 7,500 feet to 9,155 feet. There are numerous mountain peaks and canyons on the deeded and national forest land.

Vegetation is diversified to include many native grasses, forbs and trees. Juniper, pinon pine, red cedar, old growth ponderosa pine and stately oaks are common.

Wildlife is abundant and frequently seen. Native to the area are elk, mule deer, bear, mountain lion, turkey, eagles and many smaller birds and mammals. Elk herds are often seen grazing in the open meadows. Land owner elk hunting permits are probable due to the well-established resident herds.

Electric and telephone service are extended to the northwest corner of the property.
